Compliments

Some time back I was reading a book by Woody Allen , and in one place he does a really good job of describing the physical appearance of a not-very attractive female acquaintance of his. Now I’ve changed the words just a little to make it even better (sorry, Mr. Allen), and here it is:

She might have been considered pretty in an earlier time .... for example, the Cro-Magnon era.

I like this for two reasons. First, it paints a really vivid picture. And second, it just shows us that we can turn just about anything into a compliment if we try hard enough, and wouldn’t all our lives be nicer if there were more compliments being thrown around? Thank you, Mr. Allen! Hallelujah.

  1. I love Rufus. He has such a unique sound. Sanssouci is my favorite of his tunes. My blog has a video of my friend doing a rendition of Sanssouci. Like your blog BTW.
