Jimmy Cakes

“Hey look, it’s Jimmy Cakes!” That’s what I say when I see my friend Jimmy Cakes. But I haven’t seen him for awhile.

Jimmy Cakes is pretty cool. He’s got this one shirt that I really like. It’s just a black tee shirt, but on the front in white letters, here’s what it says:

Burrow under me,
Burro under thee!

That rocks! I asked him once what it meant, but he just looked at me, real serious and mysterious like, and he said “Duncan,” – he always calls me Duncan because that’s my name – “that’s for each of us to find out for ourselves.” WHOA! That’s deep, but I guess I knew it would be because it’s got an exclamation mark, and that’s usually a tip-off. I’ve been looking for a shirt just like that, but I can’t find one anywhere (but I’m going to keep looking).

I thought of Jimmy the other day when I was looking at ads on Craigslist. Under “articles for sale – arts and crafts” – I saw this headline: “Doilies, Doilies, Doilies!” There’s so much to like about this, but my favorite part is the “exclamation mark” at the end, because it lets you know that this person really takes their doilies seriously – they mean business, Mister! And the reason I thought of Jimmy was, hey, I bet this could make a good tee-shirt too:

Doilies under me?
No, doilies under thee!

I think it’s the punctuation marks that really makes this one what it is – without ‘em, it’d be just another doilies tee-shirt. I’m definitely going to pass this along to Jimmy Cakes.

Well, it’s time for Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day, and boy do we have a treat for you. It’s just one of the best songs of all time, but you might not have heard this version, and it’s definitely worth a listen. Trust me, it’s “Willie” good. (God that was fun to write.)
