Haiku, You Coo, We All Coo, For Haiku

As you’ve no doubt discovered by now, I’m a fairly poetic kind of guy. Some time back I decided to try my hand at Haiku – that’s the Japanese type of poem that has three lines, where the first and third lines have five syllables, and the second one has seven, and nothing has to rhyme. (It’s probably a little more involved than that, but all I really picked up on was the five, seven, five, and no rhyme. And that’s easy to remember – just make it into a little jingle: Five, seven, five, and no rhyme. Five, seven, five, and no rhyme)

Anyway, just like when I tried my hand at Shakespeare (see my April 10th entry – it was masterful), I think what I came up with was pretty good:

Sky, ever changing
Ethereal, oh you bet
The clouds be dancin’

Not bad, huh? If you hear of any Haiku contests, let me know.
