The Tonight Show, Thirty Some Years Ago

I saw Mr. Jeepers and he told me he liked yesterday’s post. He said he particularly liked the title – Mr. Jeepers, Officer Cornhole and Chief Peters – because it sounded like it came right out of a bit called Carnac the Magnificent that Johnny Carson used to do on The Tonight Show way back when. In the bit, Johnny, who would be dressed up in a cape and a swami-like hat, would “divine” the answer to a question before he knew what the question was. Mr. Jeepers said there was one he particularly liked – he said in all the years of watching the show he never saw Johnny’s sidekick, Ed McMahon, laugh harder. And through the miracle of the internet, you could see it by clicking here.

For Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day, we have another performer who unfortunately is no longer with us. This is a really good, very poignant song by Warren Zevon from his last album, which he made while he was dying of lung cancer. Click on the title to see the video.
