I saw my cousin Dewey over the weekend, and he said to say hi to everyone. So “hi” from Dewey. He’s doing fine, same ole’ big-hearted Dewey. He’s still doing his trademark introduction, the same thing he’s been doing since he was a little kid. He loves going up to people he doesn’t know and introducing himself, and he always does it the same way – he just walks up to them and extends his hand and says “Dewey Funk.” And of course, most people interpret that as a question, and so often say something like
“we sure do!” or
“well hell yes we funk.” Dewey still gets a big kick out of it. I think it’s something he got from his mom, my Aunt Bea. She’s getting up in years now, but even so she still likes going up to strangers, extending her hand, and saying “Bea Funk.” To which most people say
“be what?”
It’s nice having a fun family. And I know my sister, Punkin’, thinks so too.

Well it’d be just a little too perfect if I had a song called “Duncan and Dewey” for
Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day. But I don’t. But I got something kind of close … it’s another “oldie but a goodie,” at least if you’re a fiddle fan. (And just who isn’t?).
Title: Don and Dewey
