“Neither Fish Nor Fowl …

… shall keep this Funk from his appointed rounds.” That’s my motto for today, and so far it’s working out well. It provides inspiration and sounds impressive, but if you think about it, it leaves a lot of wiggle room (and I appreciate that). So far I’ve only had the opportunity to share it with one person, that being the cashier at the grocery store – but I could tell from the look on his face that he was quietly impressed with my resolve.

[A Postscript: Little did I know when I wrote the above how pertinent it would turn out to be. Later that evening I cooked dinner, and for the first time, tried my hand at fresh halibut. It did not go well at all. Everytime I turned it, some of it stuck on the bottom of the pan, and after turning it several times, suffice it to say, it looked like scrambled halibut. I came close to throwing it out, but then I though of my daily motto, and so we ate that crap. My appointed round was kept.]
