Well, It’s Time To Cast Away Stones

And here, of course, I’m talking about the directive contained in the Book of Ecclesiastes, as adapted and put to music by Pete Seeger, and turned into a hit song by the Byrds in 1965.

When I told Vulva what I planned to do today, she asked me “but how do you know it’s time to cast away stones?” I love Vulva, I really do, but sometimes she seems so quaint! Some things you just know!

Just like a couple of months ago I knew it was time to start gathering them together. As I was working, I was aware out of the corner of my eye that my neighbor, Otto Fibbs, was watching me. Eventually he asked me, whatcha doing there, Duncan? I simply replied that it was a time to gather stones together. He didn’t say anything else, but seemed to understand. I hope he’s as understanding later today when those stones start flying by his place!

Well, it’s time for Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day. Come on people, this isn’t rocket science – you know what’s coming. It's an entertaining video, with concert shots of the Byrds interspersed with scenes from Forest Gump (since the song was on the soundtrack). Oh, and just a bit of trivia from Wikipedia: the song lyrics are almost verbatim from the Book of Ecclesiastes, with the only ones being added by Pete Seeger being the “turn, turn, turn,” and the last line: “I swear it’s not too late.”

Title: Turn, Turn, Turn
