My Friday Night Hoan Foam

There’s a song by David Gray that both Vulva and I like a lot, called Alibi. It’s a really good song. But like a lot of songs, deciphering the lyrics can be a bit of a challenge. But one thing that comes through real clearly is the first part of one of the lines of the chorus: Where’d it all go wrong, my Friday night …???? Juhbuh? My Friday night what? We kept trying to figure it out, and the best we could come up with was Where’d it all go wrong, my Friday night Hoan Foam.

Well, I finally just looked it up on the internet, and it turns out he’s not singing about his Friday night hoan foam, but his Friday night enfant. Oohhh. I’m thinking that’s probably French. We don’t say that word a lot where I live.

When I was reading the lyrics, another line caught my eye: Prayers like ammonites curl beneath the lights. Ammonites? Later on I told Vulva what I had found and mentioned the ammonites. I said something like my best guess was that they were probably like a cross between a sea anemone and a Mennonite. And she said, “oh, kind of like a Mormon?” That Vulva, she cracks me up.

Well, I guess there’s not much mystery over what Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day is going to be today, eh what? Eh what? Wink wink, nod nod. Click on the title to see the video.
