Klaus Goes Shopping

Well, vacation’s come and gone, and I had a fine time, thank you for asking. Among other things, I played a lot of poker, and that’s where the title of this post comes in. Usually when we play poker, we play Texas Hold-‘em, but sometimes we play what we call just regular poker, where the dealer selects whatever game he or she wants. Sometimes it’s five-card draw, and sometimes it’s seven-card stud, and they all have different variations. But one night, after drinking quite a bit of wine, Vulva’s brother, Klaus, announced that we were going to play a new game, Klaus Goes Shopping. I got to tell you, I think he may have been making it up as he went along. The gist of the game is that the dealer, in this case Klaus, can go “shopping” by taking cards from other players. Well I was sitting there with a full house, the best hand I’d had all night, feeling pretty confident. And then Klaus decided he was going to go shopping again, and so he took a card from another player, and all of a sudden he shouts out “the Fabulous Four of Clubs – I win!” Well shit, he hadn’t said anything about the Fabulous Four of Clubs before that. I think I lost twenty bucks on that hand. Yet for some strange reason, maybe it was the wine, I rather liked the game and look forward to playing it again next year on vacation. Maybe I’ll get the Fabulous Four of Clubs.
