And the Limerick Competition Winner Is …

There once was a girl from Venus
…..

Now let’s just pause right there because I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking this is just going to go down that tired, predictable path that so many limericks travel. But no, it doesn’t – that’s part of its charm.

There once was a girl from Venus
Who came down and sat right between us
She had big thighs
But she didn’t have eyes
So I don’t even think she seen us

What a delightful blending of poetry, science fiction and whimsy! It’s like I can see the whole scene unfold in my head. And the winning author is none other than our very own Dr. Nels Noodleman – nice job, Doc. Venus!? Man, where does he come up with this stuff? It's like he's a genius or something.

In a bizarre twist, Dr. Noodleman insisted that if his entry won, rather than winning the prize (which was just a complimentary “Noodle-‘in” from his own clinic), he wanted to select Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day. And so he has. And so for the first and presumably only time ever on our stage, please welcome from, I don’t know what – 50 years ago? - Jimmy Clanton. Click on the title to see the video. (I particularly like the album cover that appears to be titled “Jimmy Happy.”)
