Are You An Earthling Too?

This kind of falls under the heading of something that sounds like a good idea when you wake up at 4:30 in the morning doesn’t seem like such a sure thing a few hours later. But you never know.

So here’s the deal: EarthlingRegistry.com. Has quite a ring to it, doesn’t it? People would sign up, or register, and in return they would get a fancy, sequentially-numbered certificate authenticating their official standing as a Registered Earthling. It’s the sequential numbering that’s the key, that’s what makes it exciting. I, Duncan Funk, of course would be Registrant Number 1. Think of the status of having a low registration number. The competition would be intense, probably at least for the first million or so.

The money-making potential is frankly mind-boggling. Let’s just play with some numbers. So there’s about six billion people in the world, give or take. Let’s say one percent – being very conservative – sign up. Well, that’s sixty million, and at $10 per certificate, that’s $600 million. And if just one percent of those 60 million buy an attractively designed Registered Earthling tee shirt at $20 each, well there’s another $12 million. And probably at least half of that number will fancy themselves as “rebels,” so will buy an “Unregistered Earthling” tee shirt, so there’s another $6 million. It just keeps piling up.

Yes, I think I’m going to get my people working on this. I’ll keep you posted.

For Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day we have a very good cover of a John Lennon classic.
