I’m sure she’d appreciate any good birthday wishes you’d care to send her way. I think she’s always been just a little sensitive about her birthday, coming so close after Christmas. People tend to be partied out. Yet she still insists on celebrating it on the same day, year after year. You’d think she’d learn, but she hasn’t yet and so I just try to humor her.
She also has the sense that people don’t seem quite as enthusiastic about celebrating her birthday as they doing about celebrating other people’s birthdays, at least publicly. I have to admit, I’ve noticed it at restaurants, you know the kind where they make a big deal of it by bringing all their staff out, and having someone yell “hey everybody, it’s Vulva’s birthday.” And when people sing “happy birthday dear Vulva,” they really don’t seem to sing as loud as they do for others. But I try to make up for it by singing extra loud. And maybe you can too.
