• oohh, it’s slippery – be careful or you’ll fall on your Aunt Nancy; or
• damn, I think I’m getting a pimple on my Aunt Nancy; or
• oh no thanks, I’ll have to pass on dessert – I’m afraid my Aunt Nancy is big enough as it is; or
• get a load of her Aunt Nancy.
The only possible downside I can see is that some women who are actually named Nancy could take some offense. But my advice to them would be oh come on, lighten up – time marches on and you can’t hold back everybody else’s enjoyment just because you might be a little offended. Time to grow up!
And this doesn’t have to be limited to America – heck no! Imagining someone with a Scottish or Australian or Indian accent saying it, well that just brings a smile to my face just thinking about it. I guess all that’s left now is to get up off our Aunt Nancys and just make it happen!
