This May or May Not Apply to You

If you live in Yonkers, New York, and you’re a young woman in her late teens to early twenties and are reasonably attractive, and are thinking of entering the local civic beauty pageant, please, I urge you to THINK TWICE! What if you win? Yes, there’ll no doubt be some amount of glitz and glamour. And perhaps there may even be a scholarship, which could be very helpful in these tough economic times. But you’ll be known as Miss Yonkers. And it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that that will only focus increased attention on, well, you know, your own yonkers. (Ooohh, hellloo Miss Yonkers!) Is that what you want? All I’m asking is that you at least think about it.
