Or so Vulva said as we walked along the waterfront on a pleasant summer’s evening. I sighed and patiently explained to her that in fact what was in the air was a heavy concentration of particulate matter from a coal burning plant located about thirty miles south of us. What’s worse, I said, is that the particulates contain several known carcinogens, so what’s actually in the air is death. Vulva said she stood corrected.
