Seven hundred and fifty six - 756. That’s how many niblets were on my ear of corn last night, the one that I had at dinner with my barbecued hamburger and pasta salad. I counted them, every last one of them. Seven hundred and fifty six niblets. I just about shit!
Who needs that many niblets? Who can keep track of that many? It’s getting out of control.
Whenever possible I like to try to offer solutions rather than just cursing the darkness. So I looked at my corn …I studied it very closely. It struck me that what’s now 18 separate niblets – that’s three rows at six niblets per row – should be able to easily be transformed into one single niblet. Can you imagine how juicy that one niblet would be? And then on the whole ear of corn, you’d only have about 42 niblets (although we’d probably start calling them “nibs” because they wouldn’t be so small anymore). I can handle forty two nibs on my corn – how ‘bout you? Are you listening, farmers?

The group Coldplay was clearly thinking along these same lines when they came out with this song – it’s a no-brainer for Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day.
