Me And The Clabber Girl

I’m not an experienced cook, but bit by bit I’m doing more and slowly but surely I’m branching out. I was going to make a stir-fry last night, and I decided that rather than use a pre-made stir-fry sauce like I usually do, I’d do something a little more involved, something from scratch. One of the things I needed to buy because I didn’t have any was cornstarch, which I’ve never bought before. When I located it on the grocery shelf, I could see that there were two different brands, Argo and Clabber Girl.

Excuse me? Clabber Girl? What the hell is a Clabber Girl? Or is it a matter of who is the Clabber Girl (Dick and Darlene Clabber's youngest daughter, perhaps)? So many questions. Of course I bought the Clabber Girl, just so I could say I had bought some Clabber Girl. That's the kind of guy I am.

When I got home I did some quick research. Turns out, “clabber” is “clabbered” milk, which is sour milk. So “Clabber Girl” is basically the same as “Sour-Milk Girl.” Umm, charmed I’m sure. I don’t think Vulva needs to feel threatened.

Do with this information what you will. For myself, I’m just going to store it away and hope that it comes in handy again someday.
