Big Ole' Honkin' Bass

You know those old fashioned bass fiddles…the kind that are really big and they stand on the ground and you pluck ‘em, like in this picture? (By the way, I don’t know who that guy in the picture is – he just came with the bass. But I bet he’d be delighted to know he was being featured on DuncanFunk.com!)

I’d like to learn to play one of these bad boys. But if I did, I’d put a neck strap around it, and play it just like any old guitar. And I’d smile a lot when I played it. And if anyone ever challenged me, saying I wasn’t playing it right, I’d just look at them and say, “man, that is so old school.” Come to think of it, that’d be a good thing to say just about anytime someone says you’re not doing something right.

The bass is a simple instrument, so today for Our Duncan Funk Song of the Day, we’re going to feature A Simple Man. Isn’t that cute? This is a good song, another one of those that you hardly ever hear. I don’t know why David Crosby comes out at the end looking like he wants to give Graham Nash a smooch. Artists!

Title: Simple Man
Artist: Graham Nash (with a smooch by David Crosby)
