Are You Due For a Noodle-in'?

That’s what Nels Noodleman, our town’s Gastroenterologist wants to know. Dr. Noodleman operates a clinic where he performs a lot of everyone’s favorite procedure, the colonoscopy. But I guess to make it sound a little less foreboding and a little more friendly, he refers to it as getting a “Noodle-in’.” He does a lot of advertising, and has billboards all over town, and signs on buses, showing his picture and always asking that same question: “Are you due for a Noodle-in’? And he even advertises on local TV, and it’s always kind of funny hearing him ask the question with his Norwegian accent. He even suggests “bringing in the Missus to make it a family affair." The way he talks about it, it really does kind of sound like fun. Yah, sure.

And here’s an interesting sidelight. Dr. Noodleman loves baseball, and sponsors a little league team, and he always makes sure his team has the best equipment and nicest uniforms. But he insists that his team be called The Noodlemen. So in that particular Little League Division, you got the Yankees, the Mariners, the Cubs, the Braves, and the Noodlemen. And the Noodlemen almost always win. And their fans cheer the team on by telling them to give the other team “a good Noodle-in.” It’s pretty much become a standard expression around here.
